Lately I have been really trying to focus on my eating and hitting my desired Macronutrients or “Macros” for the day. What I mean by that is, I set a certain % of total calories coming from for Protein, Fat, and Carbs for myself and I track everything I eat through MyFitnessPal.com also available as an app for your smart phone! It’s so easy, it literally knows every brand of food, restaurant items, and you can enter your own recipes and save them for easy entries later. It really has helped me keep my eating on point!
The other day I got done with a late cardio/bootcamp workout and so I whipped up a yummy protein packed snack after. It’s important to get protein in after a lifting session or high intensity workout because you make little tiny tears in your muscle with strength training, hence why you are sore after. You are especially sore 24-48 hours after, usually being 48 hours (eeek, I hate the 2nd day soreness!) Protein is important after because it helps repair your muscles and builds your muscles stronger after this! It’s suggested to get your protein in within 30 – 45 minutes post workout.
I whipped up this pretty concoction post workout!
What you need:
-1 organic brown rice cake
-3/4 scoop Cellucor Peanut butter marshmallow protein
-1 TBS PB2
-1 tsp unsweetened cocoa (optional)
-Mix with a dash of water – not too much, I like it thick like pudding
spread that on your rice cake! ♨ then if you’re really behind on hitting your macros like I was, add a few slices banana and 85% dark chocolate chips!
Seriously… This is amazing! I’m all about quick and easy!
